2 Cat6 is very limiting since once you have 1 computer and a
telephone plugged in that's it all used up, what about using 1 cat 6 for 2
telephone sockets 2 pairs wired for normal phones and 2 pairs wired for a
digital telephone system and 2 or 4 cat 6 per room depending on the
situation also in the living room you will also want cables capable of
carrying audio signals to and from the Wiring Cabinet for future use and
while we're talking about future proofing why not install a wiring for a
state of the art alarm system.



Remember each room has different requirements and you need to plan for all
these eventualities e.g. Do you want a 20mm recessed Power and Coax point
1m
up the wall for a plasma this can be covered over until needed. What about
other services that you could run over Cat6 not just PCs, Printers etc. For
example internet enabled fridge / coffee machine, serial to Ethernet
interfaces for controlling devices

I'm about to wire a new home and the installer will order a custom molded
cable bundle.  So far I've asked for two satellite grade 75ohm coax
(suitable for Tivo) and also two Cat6 data cables for ethernet and/or
phones) to run to all points.  The question is whether to add an optical
cable into the bundle for some unknown future use.  The cables are being
run radially from a single point in the house and many of the runs will be
difficult to upgrade later without damage to walls and decorations.

Thanks for any advice on the benefits of having unused fibre available
throughout the house for the future.
