Re: Low cost touch screen modules

Hi Ian,

You still working on that old project??? :o)

The thing that makes it interesting for me now is that since I move to
Indonesia and am now living in an apartment, the walls are solid so I
need to use something that is both wireless and battery power or at
least where I can run a DC power supply to it from a wall socket. Not
the ideal solution but as I can not simply channel into the walls as the
apartment is rented, this is not the best for having hidden cables.

I have been looking at coming up with an aircon control system using a
mixture of wireless for interconnect and PC control from the likes of
Homeseer and infra red to the aircon units. My old boiler control system
is now useless as no need for heating here :o) Can maybe still use the
touch screen controller for central control of all the house aircon
units. I have 4 in total.

I have been thinking about the Zigbee system again seeing as the price
has dropped a great deal. Zwave would have been great but the dev kit
price makes it uneconomical for home projects. I found a small Zigbee
module from Maxstream that is only $19 each for low order quantities.
The dev kit is only $300 and gives you 5 modules to play with, 2 being
the Pro version for longer range.

How much development is left in your design before you think you will
have something to sell?

Regards
Dave...
