Sony President, Howard Stringer, gave away a few titbits about the
future of the PSP in his keynote speech at the Ceatec trade show in
Japan and the direction it is heading is interesting to media center fans.
Stringer promised that owners will "soon be able to deploy the
device's built-in WiFi, to watch video from home entertainment
terminals, anytime, anywhere in the world."
He went on to excite even further by proposing a PSP with a high
capacity MemoryStick which can be synchronised a Digital Video Recorder.
What's a 'home entertainment terminal'? Quite frankly we have no idea,
but there are two possibilities. Firstly, Sony may will just be
talking about a standard PC, perhaps a media center PC. Alternatively
they may be talking about a dedicated piece of Sony hardware.
Whatever the answer, Sony has been talking up the portable media
center aspects of the PSP for a while now, without actually providing
the software or hardware for it to become one. It looks like that's
all changing and we can't wait
