Interesting - are there any hardware based xPL stuff around ? ie if you
wanted to talk to xPL to Comfort - I dont want any PC shinnanigans
controlling anything. I can then either use Comfort for the logic or the
xPL device itself (ie upload programming)...

If you go for the Netiom you have a whole load of possible means for
control.
You could either control via xAP (using xPLHal to bridge as you suggest)
or I believe one of the xPL guys had written some new firmware that
enabled xPL support in much the same way that the xAP support works -
best asking over on the UKHA_XPL list.
