RE: Sky+ with Tivo

Thanks very much, - that worked a treat...

However, I should have done my research first, (in typical UKHA fashion
I just leapt in when I spotted a B.. B.. Bargain!) (tm Phil Harris 2001)

My plan was that one of the 2 tuners in the + box would be dedicated to
the Tivo, so there would no longer be any SWMBO issues with clashes
between Tivo recording something off Sky, and SWMBO simultaneously
wanting to watch something else off Sky... - I kept having to tell her
that If Tivo is recording she wasn't allowed to change the sky channel -
never a popular rule....

Unfortunately, it seems like my best laid plans might have gone awry,
since if what I've read is right, the Sky+ box only has 1 decoder, and
thus can only provide 1 viewable, decoded video feed at a time... - I
haven't tested this myself, but it seems to be suggesting that actually
"watching" 2 different channels in real time is impossible...
(recording
with the sky+ not being an issue, since it records the raw unencrypted
MPEG stream).

If it turns out to be true that I still can't provide Tivo with it's own
dedicated feed, it *may* be time for me to part company with it... :-(

Not much point in having two separate PVR's in the same room... the Sky+
can take over the recording duties for the main stuff I use the bedroom
one for (Stargate, Star Trek mainly!). I'll lose the Tivo suggestions
recordings of course, but in truth, I think I could live with that...
and the upside would of course be:

A UI that I CAN read from in bed
NO MORE failed channel changes!

Hmmm... I'll have to mull on this one for a bit... - To keep Tivo, or to
part with Tivo, that is the question...
