[ADVERT] Anyone want a BOOK PC?
Finally, and with some regret, I have decided to sell off my PSU-defunct
Book PC...
It is a complete BKi810 model, with an Intel P111-866MHz CPU fitted,
256MB RAM (2 x128 sticks), a 30GB HDD, and a (reasonably ancient) CDROM
drive (ROM only, not -r or -rw). It also had a brand new CMOS battery
fitted about 2 months ago.
It has the usual and dreaded dead PSU problem. - I fixed it once, and I
thought I had done a good job, since it ran perfectly for about a week
solidly after I did it. (I ran it constantly for a week as a soak test).
Then I put it away on the shelf for 3 months, planning to come back to
it later.
Recently I got it back down, powered it up, and.... nothing... :-( -
How does that happen!!? - It worked when I put it up there!. I wondered
if it might have been the battery that died in the intervening period,
so I changed that for a new one, but that seems to have made no
difference, so I guess my PSU repair wasn't so good after all.... - I'm
sure someone could do it again and do a better job of it though....
Like I said, if only the PSU would power it up, *everything* functions
fine. It had (has) XP Pro installed, which was running just dandy... - I
should of course wipe that OS off before passing the PC on, but I can't
power it up to wipe it... ;-) (And I can't be bothered to pull the drive
out again).
Open to offers. I'm based in the UK (in London), so could ship inside
the UK no problem....
