for reasonably prices desktop racks or ebay has loads.
as for a switch if you only need 10/100 you can get 24 way on ebay for £30
then you could buy a cheap 8 way gigabit also.
24 way gigabit are a little more expensive - think I just paid around £180
for an SMC managed switch 24 x 1000/100/10 (with QOS as I want to put VOIP
through it).
