RE: 'Inteligent' Heating Control
There were a couple of examples in the FAQ section on automatedhome.co.uk
but that seems to have died a death :
I have had a system in place for a while, but it comes with a warning!
I used a couple of X10 modules (one for heating, one for hot water) and the
xPLHal server sofwtare - a script grabs the weather from glasgow airport
(my
nearest METAR site) and sets a couple of flags for whether a "cold
night" is
expected.
I then turn the heating on for an hour or so once or twice a night to keep
the heat up - amazingly effective for such a crude control.
With 1-wire stuff, you can use aan App Steve Cooper has written to get the
temperatures into xPLHal, and take it from there.
Best bit is the cost of course - free downloads! ;)
Ian.

Subject: [ukha_d] 'Inteligent' Heating Control
I want to improve the heating & hot water control I have over and above
the
standard Drayton controller I've got now. I'm not entirely sure what I'm
after but I'm thinking some kind of X-10 control of on and off's which
external temperature input (1-wire perhaps) to adjust for when it's really
cold.
I thought I remember someone on this group doing something similar but no
amount of googling will find it now. Unfortunately the likes of Homevision
are out of my league so has anyone got ideas / details of what could be
done
PC/X-10/1-wire wise?
Thanks
Brian
