Nick,

Depending on how old the radio  is - I think FM was first broadcast in the
UK in the late 50s - if the set can receive FM have you considered a FM
transmitter linked to any MP3 player you want.
Something like an iTrip would do.
He could then listen on any old set without trashing it.

Father-in-law has old cars and an old portable radio. Nick's
challenge - make the old radio play 60's music. Easy says Nick, just
shove a bit of MP3 kit in it. Go on then says father-in-law.

Now the panic sets in. Nick needs to find something that plays MP3s,
has about a 2-5 watt output and doesn't cost the earth. That sounds
like an MP3 module or similar. Can Nick find anything?
