Interference on RS232 cables?

  • Subject: Interference on RS232 cables?

I=92m wondering if the problems I=92m seeing with two RS232 serial
devices =
might be caused by interference from nearby kit. I=92m getting weird and
ra=
ndom problems with serial data =96 one of the apps shows CRC errors
(appare=
ntly).

My current node0 is in a double cupboard and has all kinds of kit in there
=
=96 3 PC=92s, one of which is brand new but the others are old PIII dual
CP=
U machines. These are sitting on top of an old APC Smart UPS 1400 Rack
Moun=
t UPS.

I=92m wondering if one of these is putting out a lot of RF? Is there
anythi=
ng that will monitor RF noise (that I can buy or hire)? Anything else I
can=
do?

Thanks,

Paul.
