RE: HA Holy Grail #1: Occupancy Detection

Im running something very similar to Malcolm's setup.

Malcolm - did you look at mcsMovement plugin? How does doo-motion compare?

Im using the BT VP1000 Home Monitor (Visonic) alarm system with the RFXCOM
(www.rfxcom.com) Visonic receiver connected to ACRF plugin in Homeseer 2.1.
Very happy with the results and the range of the Visonic devices. I looked
at X10 RF, but decided the Visonic protocol was a better protocol due to
the
extra error handling, and unique ID of the devices. The BT door sensors
have
an aux contact that can be used for a doorbell/entry system etc.

I also plan to use the visonic sensors in the cars, so the 'house' is aware
if the cars are on drive and alarm is on, etc.

I have just written a mini review for automatedhome, should be posted in
the
next couple of days.
