Just thought I should say 'hi'.  I'm a newbie to the group but have
wrestled
with the vagaries of X10 for several years now.

It's great to find a group of people I can discuss the
"challenges" with!
Also, I'm always interested in looking at alternative technologies.

I'm pretty technically competent, so hopefully will be able to contribute
usefully to the discussions.

I've actually posted a couple of messages to the uk.tech.home-automation
newsgroup, but it's awfully quiet over there so I'll bring those debates
here shortly.

Also, I must tell you about my X10-controlled electric curtains which I
made
with a cordless drill sawn in half, a six inch rule, a pencil eraser and
two
castor cups!  Did the whole lot for less than one tenth the price of a
commercial unit.
