Thanks for the suggestion, but there hasn't been a VCR round these parts
for many months now :-)
I tried the same kind of thing using my PVR.  It works fine, but
obviously if anyone is watching a program on it, I'll get that instead
of the cable channel.

In reply to your other post - Maplin is one of the companies I usually
associate with selling rubbish (and not cheap rubbish either), but I've
read a few reviews of the box you suggested, and I may as well give it a
go.
