RE: guidance on cat5 wiring a house?

Another couple:

=20

If you have an obvious second =93node zero=94, like another cupboard or
lof=
t
space, run a =93bundle=94 of four cat5 between those rooms, as well as the
=
links
back to node zero =96 it allows you to be more flexible if your node zero
starts to fill up!

=20

Don=92t expect your rooms to line up between floors =96 it would be great
i=
f
cupboards etc lined up, and make running cables a lot easier =96 in
practic=
e,
it=92s usually a little awkward to get cables between floors.

=20

Get a good nylon fish tape =96 they make life *sooo* much easier! B&Q
do a
basic one for about =A37, which has served me well. On that front, a
length=
of
flexible plastic plumbing pipe =96 the thinnest stuff. You can force it
aro=
und
and through voids etc, then thread a CAT5 run through it.

=20

Remember that CAT5 can be used to send all sorts of stuff, not just Data =
=96
it=92s good for serial, video (CCTV type quality) or full AV (with
somethin=
g
like the KAT5 modules)

=20

Echoing the =93run more than you think you will need=94 sentiment. It=92s
=
better
to have an unneeded cable in the wall, then a desperately needed cable
*not=
*
in the wall!!

Ian.
