I've done the same :-)
I've tried both with a separate meter and with the on-screen test page
and, TBH, had more success looking at the TV. I've done it a few
times, including abroad, and once you get the knack of just nudging
the dish instead of "moving" it, it works ok.

Picture quality is excellent via RGB onto a Sony widescreen CRT set
and makes some of the pictures I see of Freeview flat screen sets in
shop windows look crap, frankly. Of course a shop window isn't the
best place to demo your new set, but I'm struggling to find an
standard definition LCD picture that I'd be happy to watch - hence me
sticking with the CRT for now :-/
