[OT] Telephone Wiring

  • Subject: [OT] Telephone Wiring

I am trying to re-jig my telephone wwiring in one of my rooms.
Originally
before we moved in there were two lines into the house, but we only needed
one and I wanted to get rid of a double slave socket and replace it with a
single slave socket. The double slave is wried into two circuits as
expected.

Circuit 1 has a white with orange stripe to 3, green with white stripe to
2
and white with green stripe to 5
Circuit 2 has orange with a white stripe to 3, blue with white stripe to 2
and white with blue stripe to 5.

My simple logic said connect the 'live circuit' (circuit 2) into the new
slave (same connections) and disconnect the circuit that is not used
(Circuit 1) however if I do that I lose the dialling tone and don't seem to
be able to do much.

If I connect circuit 2 to the new slave and leave circuit 1 connected then
I
can use the new slave. Is there a aet of connections that will allow me to
use just the new slave?

Many thanks

Steve
