many thanks ... 'good to have real experience ! ...

'will Google to understand what a Pronto is ! ...

rather than having the PDAs continuously controlling, I imagined them
being used only to make changes ... they come on fast, as you said ..
and, rather than having a control program running in the PDA, I imagined
beaming phrases in English - lights-up, lights-on-ceiling-off, for
example, rather in the mode of Applescript - which might allow a
speech-recognition option, too ...

some sort of motion-sensing would be necessary, I guess, to give a
starting low level of light on entering a space, but our build is very
open-plan ...

not sure about a Node 0 approach for the HiFi - it's effectively what we
have now, in the lounge, and it's made it all rather inaccessible - and
run rather warmer than I like ...

for the grannies, 'wonder if a small limited-function button-box worn on
a chord could be a solution ? ...
