Re: Re: Macworld 2006
As someone at work noted just the other day, hardware gets faster &=20
faster, but some applications seem to get slower & slower - MS Word
&=20
Excel, for example, seem painful these days - maybe I need to get a=20
faster machine, but I find myself going back to Word 5 & Excel 4,
both=20
the best part of fifteen-years old now, & OS8.6, and don't touch
Office=20
2004 on OS10.4 if I can possibly avoid it ... . With MS Word, and MS=20
Powerpoint too, I find legacy document formats don't carry forward=20
properly - despite my best efforts, page-breaks & parsing vary - so I
am=20
forced to go back for them, anyway. In iWork, Apple Pages is also=20
slow, at least on '10.4, but their presentation application (what's it=20
called ?) is OK (and, strange to say, a lot better at dealing with the=20
legacy 'Powerpoint material) ...
