If I understand you correctly (and it is Friday and I have ahd a ewf
lgasess of wine :-) ) your problem is that you cannot see far enough
under the floor boards to see why you can't push through from the
understairs cupboard to the kitchen?
If that's the case, I'd suggest asking your SWMBO if you can use her
"compact" mirror - Y'know, the little mirrors they keep in their
handbags to check the war paint!
Use that, in combination with a torch to see what's happening under the
floor.
