RE: Mini Mac, is it worth switching for PC to Mac?
if it was crashing i would have checked the RAM
=20
Mac minis are slower than than its bigger counter parts. I have managed to
=
use Final cut pro and completed my work. Slower than a G5 ? yes. Did it
eve=
r crash? Never
if you want to just use imovie to make home video etc (especially the new
i=
life 06 suit which is the amazing) then I would recommend. The imovie
exper=
ience is better than any windows app I have used targeting the casual
user.=
=20
=20
As far as admin - you can use dreamweaver or iWeb (new app bundled in
life0=
6)=20
depending on your experience level
=20
Office works fine on the mac mini. Wifi is straightforward.
=20
note you do need the ram upgrade. ilife 06 will be bundled with your
machin=
e.
best advice is go into a store and try out OSX and see if you like it=20

Subject: RE: [ukha_d] Mini Mac, is it worth switching for PC to Mac?
Hi,=20
My wife and I tried this experiment a few months back. Suffice to say
the=20
minis are now sold and we are back to pcs although I loved the minis at
the=
=20
time and was certainly enjoying playing with something new, bright and=20
white.=20
A few factors contributed to this.=20
1:) The wife couldn't get on with it as it was not what she was used to
and=
=20
didn't want to change.=20
2:) The minis crashed - yes they did! and not just once. The concept of=20
apples never crashing is simply not true - this was one of the main
reasons=
=20
for purchasing.=20
3:) Applications - although most stuff is available for the minis
(office=20
etc) it is slighlty different to what we are used to at work (some might
sa=
y=20
better) but it does mean know 2 slightly different version sof the same=20
software. We had issues with cisco'ing in from thome to work on the minis
2=
=20
as her office had no real support for it.=20
4.) ILife is great but Itunes is now available for PCs. There are plently
o=
f=20
photo apps for pcs too that compare nicely with IPhoto IMHO.=20
5.) I know spware/viruses are an issue for pcs but something like=20
Zonealarm's full package will sort you out on the pc and keep you safe.=20
6.) In summary if you have been using pcs for 10 years its hard to change.=
=20
O and its not the fastest thing either (not suprising given the specs. I=20
would buy the most expensive Dell you can get for your cash.=20
