Re: [OT] Network question
Hi Dean,
IF the mac address is printed on the camera anywhere then do:
arp -s 192.168.1.1 00-aa-00-62-c6-09
from a command prompt (assuming you're using some flavour of Windows)
replacing "192.168.1.1" with an UNUSED IP address in your range
and
"00-aa-00-62-c6-09" with the camera mac address.
You should then be able to connect to the camera with the IP address used
in
the arp command above, pull up it's management web page and see the real
IP.
arp -d 192.16.1.1
to remove the static entry when you're done.
Hope this helps!
Martyn

The private ranges are
10.1.1.1 to 10.255.255.255
172.16.0.0 to 172.31.255.255
and
192.168.1.1 to 192.168.255.255
You're trying to scan close to 11 million IP address - I suggest you turn
it
off before someone complains to your ISP......

This'll teach me to mess with things i dont know.
Having lost the address of an IP camera i've downloaded a thing called 1st
IP Port Scanner.
I decided to put an IP range of 192.1.1.1 to 192.168.1.1 hoping to find
it.
This is where i get lost - whilst i havent found my camera yet - i seem to
have found someone elses machines in the 192.1.1.x range.
Should i be able to do this ?? - i thought 192 was always behind a router,
and if i can see other peoples 192's does that mean people can see mine ??
Im i just going off at a tangent - or slightly mad....
Dean.
