Shame on you Peter, since when did cost take precedence over having
anythin=
g on this list :)

Thanks for your comments... pretty much how I felt about it, but I must
adm=
it having been to the factory/showroom their doors definitely do seem
bette=
r in both looks and build quality than any others I have seen. Having had
a=
private email from another UKHA_D member saying he knew 2 people who have =
used them and are very happy, I think I probably will go ahead but will
def=
initely be paying on credit card (despite the 2.5% surcharge).

UK_selfbuild is definitely the place to ask this, as several members have
had this type of door. We looked for our own self-build, but at =A3350ish =
for
a 'normal' French door, and =A33k+ for a snazzy folding door set (which wo=

have been flush with the floor, and very nice) the costs didn't stack up.

From experience on the self-build, and repeated deliveries that were not t=
o
spec, I would never pay 100% in advance for anything like this, I'd also b=
e
happy to pay an extra few quid for them to measure up. There are plenty of
companies that do these doors, so I'd have another look around if they won=
't
back down on their payment terms.

I'm looking to replace our current (wooden) 4 panel patio doors, and am
looking at some aluminium (powder coated) bifolding sliding door systems. =
I
have been looking at a company in Bradford called 'The Folding Sliding Doo=
r
Company'. www.foldingslidingd-oors.com
=09
I have visited the factory and was impressed with the product BUT I didn't
like the fact that they wanted 100% payment up front, I had to measure the
opening myself and they wouldn't fit them but would use a separate company
called virtually the same name working out of the same building. All this
just "sounded" dodgy, so I decided to ring West Yorkshire Trading
Standard
to enquire on the company and see if they have had any complaints etc. Gue=
ss
what, they can't give that information because of the Data Protection Act =
!
What a farce.. They insisted on getting ALL my details (name , address,
phone number) before they'd even let me ask the question in the first plac=
e!
=09
So, just on the off chance can I ask if anyone on the list has used 'The
Folding Sliding Door Company' or knows someone who has ?
=09
BTW if anyone is looking at these doors the quote they gave me was approx
=A32200 supply only, plus =A3850 installation. This was for a set of doors
2110mm x 2490mm in a 3 panel configuration.
