RE: PTZ Home build

Hi All,

To start up an old thread again.

I wish to make a PTZ camera controller. Any ideas on where I might find the
protocol format for positioning a PTZ camera?
I believe there are a few formats out there, and of course I wish to try
and
emulate the most common one.
I know the comms is typically RS485 at 9600 baud. Not sure if it is
bi-directional and I believe that each camera can have an identifier
address.

I will manually drive the RS485 and I wish to have the camera pointed at a
certain X,Y,Z location and at a specific zoom. Then when a input is
received
I wish to change to another X,Y,Z location and at a different zoom.

Regards,

Neil.

Interesting idea....

Must walk along the road and see what I can "find"......

I striped (read, hammer) down a big office printer some time back that
had some good stepper motors and nice nylon gears, with a view to
coercing these into use but I aint got a clue what the circuitry
requires!

I thought of using some car speedo cables with worm gears on the ends as
a make shift PT mech as the camera I want to P&T is only a short
distance from me (on the outside front facia and I "live" in the
loft!)

This is a good site for motor driven things...

Food for thought....

Brian,

I had thought about this and wondered whether the electric door mirror
assemblies from cars would make a suitable stating point for the P-T, or
maybe just the T part.

Just a thought.

Tim.
