RE: centrally located amp

Thanks for your advice, its appreciated.

I shall factor in the 'plasma friendly' unit in the costing.

Now I've just got to get to grips with visio to get the wiring diagram
sorted ;o)

Thanks again,
Jonathan.

Hi Jonathan,

Certainly allow for plasma friendly, if you can get away without all
well and good, but if you only allow for a standard one and then have to
use the more expensive one you've either got to go back to the client
for the extra (and he may think he's well within his rights to say you
should have known it may need one of those and priced for it and spec'd
it) or swallow the extra cost yourself.

There are enough difficulties with IR (even with PF receivers) without
having to pay for the privilege of installing it

Nick!

Hi Nick,

Thanks for the swift response,

Somehow, I think we'll be alright without 'fast sound' ;o)

Yep, my thoughts were to use the digi' coax output from the dvd player
to the amp.

The client hasn't chosen his plasma yet, although we've spec'ed a
russound cav 6.6 and s2 keypads and I wondered if there would be any
'plasma IR interference' issues, or whether we'd have to bite the bullet
and use a plasma friendly receiver?

Cheers,
Jonathan.

We often install a local DVD for convenience and keep the amp central -
no issues to date.

Perhaps you could use a firewire interconnect because, as a rep for a
company that's sells plasmas once informed us, "it makes the sound
come
out faster"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you're using a plasma, any delay in the sound might give the picture
a chance to catch up (only half joking this time!).

Presumably you'll be using a digital interconnect back to the amp.

Nick

Chaps,

Just a quick question really, if I've got an av amp located in the kit
room (about 30' of cable distance away) and a local dvd player, do you
think there would be a noticeable delay / sync in the audio?

Do many people keep a dvd player locally? - I thought it would be nice
to have this if say, a friend comes over with a film to watch, rather
than having to go over to the node0 you can just use the local source..
And if you do, do you have local amp as well?

Regards,

Jonathan.
