Savastore aren't the only ones to try this. Many of the on-line
retailers try to
shirk their responsibilities by passing it on to the manufacturer, ignoring
the
fact that it is there responsibility under UK law (possibly because many
are
outside the UK?).

I've had several items from savastore in the last couple of years and have
dealt
with them from the very early days as Watford electronics (when I had a
BBC, now
that shows my age!) and not had a problem, but not had to make any
long-period
warranty claims. As you say, everyone has different experiences.

Please think twice before using Savastore.

Just spent a frustration week trying to get them to take back a 250GB LaCie
d2 Extreme HD that has failed after 17 months. It took me three expensive
(0871 + long waiting times) calls to them to get them to acknowledge that
the drive comes with a 2 year warranty (I bought it in Dec 2004) - they
tried to tell me it only came with 1 year.
Even then they refused to deal with it themselves, claiming that their
returns department refused to take back anything after the first 12 months!
They claim that the 'extended' warranty was with LaCie direct and nothing
to
do with them!!!
Of course LaCie say they only take back drives directly from customers who
buy them direct from LaCie.

Fortunately LaCie UK have been very helpful and agreed to help me out and
allowed me to return it direct to them.

I've told Savastore what I think of their (non-existent) customer service
and forwarded LaCie the emails I received from Savastore which spell out
their position. They promised to take it up with Savastore.

So, be warned ............

Other's experience of Savastore may be different?

Considering a 1TB Terastation and just wondered if anyone had experience
(good or bad!) of these units?

Spec looks good, but I can't find anything about the actual transfer speeds
or how they perform under real-world conditions.

Thanks.

Jim
