RE: LCD TV's with RS232

The 37" LG unit (Freeview and HD) model 37LC2D is on the front
cover of the Macro flyer that just hit my bin :-)
A brief search of PriceRunner would seem to suggest that is a good price
considering you can go and get it (and take it back if it don't work!)
without online delivery costs etc.

Lots of LG TVs support RS232 e.g.

23LZ25, 23LZ55, 26LC2R, 26LX2R, 26LX1R, 26LZ55,26LZ5RV,
27LZ5RV, 27LC2R, RZ-30LZ13, 32LC2D, 32LC2DB, 32LC2R
32LC3R, 32LX1R, 32LX2R, 32LZ55, 37LC2D, 37LC2DB, 37LZ31
42LC2D, 42LC2DB, 42LZ31

Similarly for a lot of their plasma displays as well. The protocol varies
a bit between models, and some of the functions aren't documented (e.g.
I've found
about 5 undocumented functions on my 32LX2R). One thing to be aware of
however is that
(at least on the nnLX2R series) you don't get any feedback from the set
when it is operated by the
remote, and you also cannot query the set for the current input selection
:(

Also note that as far as I know these are model numbers as available in the
EU - you may have
different models in NZ - worth checking out the manuals on the LGE support
website -
