Infrared Help (again) - for the electronics guys

After some help from from Ray from hacs.com I am finally
understanding the process of IR a little more.

I had been thinking of being able to split IR like a audio signal
(probably through this because its going through 3.5mm cables).

So I now understand I can build my own IR splitter using some bits
and bobs from Maplin which I have now purchased.

I have got a plastic box which I mount several 3.5mm mono sockets,
one for incoming and the rest for outgoing.

I will wire the tip of the incoming socket to the 470 ohm resistors,
and wire the sleeve of the incoming socket to the sleeves of the
outgoing sockets. Then wire the resistors to the tips of the outgoing
sockets.

Now I want to ammend this circuit a little for more functionality.

I want to add a second incoming socket, which is the IR signal from
another CAT5 AV box which comes from another room.

I secondly want to add the functionality to connect a IR repeater
directly into the circuit as well (not coming from a CAT5 unit).
