The best and cleanest way to get rid of the old OS files
will be to do a fresh install with just Windows XP Pro,
after having made a complete backup of the original disk
first.

I would use a disk imaging utility such as Norton Ghost.
This way, if it all goes horribly wrong you can get back to
the original state.

Install XP Pro, formatting the disk during the install, and then once
installed use the Norton Ghost (or other utility) to reinstall the
files needed from the original drive (data files etc.)

If you can't bear to do a fresh install, and you have installed
the different OSs into different directories e.g. c:\Win98, c:\win2k
etc, then you should be able to delete these directories without
it impacting on windows xp. This will remove most of the files
associated with these OSs. You will need to modify the boot loader
by editing boot.ini (I think) to remove the entries for the other OSs.
This is a hidden file on the c:\ drive.

If it were me, I would go for the fresh install route. It might take a
while
to do but I believe in the long term it will be better.

How do I remove the old OSs properly to free up some valuable space on my
HD?
