MCE "newbie" questions

Some questions if I may, for the more experienced MCE users on the
group.
Having just purchased my first MCE PC (a Scaleo E), I'm finding that
response to remote control commands is very sluggish at times and, when
channel changing, it can take several seconds with no response before
things
happen.
I'm no stranger to the vagaries of windows (been a professional A/P for 15
years!) but it's surprised me a little that something that is aimed at the
non-computer market isn't as responsive as I'd expect.
Have I got problems with the unit, or is this normal?
