It's DC so what happens if you apply 6V to the motor?
If that slows it down then can you put some resistors in series with the
motor
and bypassed by the microswitches? Then when the door passes and opens the
switch the resistor comes into the circuit and slows the motor down?
The resistor would need to be rated appropriately - they'd only be used
briefly
so no real worries about heat dissipation.
