RE: Re: Geovision and Idratek

Hi Allan, that is not an answer I wanted to hear :-(

Much appreciated though!

Do you know how I can tell what generation of card it is please?

The cameras are indeed coax as you suspected.

Brian,
I think you have one of the older generation Geovision cards, either
series 1 or series 2. These cards have proprietary chips, with
proprietary drivers and security chips on them to only work with the
geo-vision software. I am willing to be corrected but AFAIK you
cannot use them natively with any other applications. There are other
members on the list who may have obtained an SDK to write their own
applications but even then I am not sure of the abilities.

Assuming I have guessed right about the Geovision card you have then
I the cameras you have are COAX attached and are not IP in any way.
Geovision supply their own Active X control to allow you to view
camera output or you can snapshot still images/AVI's to a folder
after the event.

I think you need to look at getting a different capture card based
the normal BT748(?) chipsets which as discussed other applications
can then access.

Cheers
Allan
