yeah..

mine can do 1080i, but is only 1366x768 vertical (1024x768 seems an
odd resolution for a telly... not sure they have that right).

I had pretty much settled on our new TV having to be 1080 native...
until we saw the Samsung 768 resolution ones handling a Sky HD input!!

personally, I would go for LCD rather than Plasma - we managed to see
them side by side running from the same HDMI source, and holy crap is
the LCD better - more vibrant colour, better contrast and so on..
quite surprising, as I always thought plasma would be better on the
colours, just "fuzzier".

my own opinion - Samsung LCD panels are unbeatable. we spent an
afternoon walking around the retail parks in the area, and the only
contenders were the Samsung plasma, Sony Bravia (can't remember what
one) and the samsung LCD - which blew us away in the side by side.

all very subjective, but hopefully useful.
