XBOX softmod help

Hi all,

I need some help with softmodding my xbox in preparation for installing
XBMC. The issue is not with the softmodding itself - I have now done
this twice without any problems. The problem that I have is when I leave
the xbox turned off (at the mains) for 24 hours it seems to loose all of
the changes and boots up in the MS menus.

The only possibly odd thing about my xbox is that when it's turned on it
asks for the data & time to be set. Is this normal or has some internal
battery failed which is causing the loading of the old MS dashboard.

Any help or points gratefully received.

JB
