Thanks Andy,

I wasn't actually thinking about turning the UPS off at all - just the
connected devices.

What kind of power does a UPS typically draw to maintain the batteries if
ALL the outputs aren't drawing any current at all and the batteries are
fully charged (OK- so I know that a PC will continue to draw some power in
the off state - but lets ignore that for the moment)? I presume there's a
trickle charging going on continually?
