RE: [OT] Windows XP version

Simon,
Quick trick to turn the OEM disk into a standard one... (so long as you
have
a fdd)
Create a winnt.sif file which contains NO DATA. Put is on the floppy and
insert in laptop. Boot from CD a voila! Repair options appear...

Or at least they do for the recovery discs we supply (work for lappy mfr).

Subject: [ukha_d] [OT] Windows XP version

Hoping to draw on the collective knowledge here.....

If I remember correctly there is a file in Windows XP that contains the
exact version of XP installed - i.e. home/pro/SP2 etc - anyone know where
that is? I have faint recollections of setup.log, or eula something - I
have
spent an age googling, but cant find anything. I need it because a friends
laptop has given up, and I need to find the correct disk to do a repair,
now
booting from linux to read the filesystem (they only have the oem disk, no
repair option)
