Hi Kevin,

These are actually the parts I just sent in a link for.
I have not used them yet but I just bought one last week to play with.

Neil.

I have a sample of some really tiny PIR's here - made from the Napion
division of Panasonic I believe. I was looking at them for occupancy
detection a while back. They are about the size of the end of a biro
cap but only 10mm long - with wires poking out the bottom. They need
some more electronics adding as I believe they're just CMOS/TTL level
output and have other needs too. I can't just find the URL at the moment
but I'll keep looking if you're interested.

Re Sunlight - yes it can cause problems. Coincidently in a rare for me
'early' rising I noticed yesterday that my X10 external PIR was sending
continual triggers between around 6.30 and 8 AM - which is when the sun
rises and catches that corner . Never seen this before as it's
logically timed in its actions to bring on the security floods during
darkness only, but in its new role as a 'visitor announcer' it will be
problematic. There isn't a tree/bush in the way so I think it's direct
sun light only.

I also noticed in one of the Clipsal instructions for their external
'InfraScan' PIR's they specifically state that they must be sited so
that sunlight can't enter the sensor directly, including sunrise/sunset
or permanent damage may occur. These are quite long range devices so
maybe that has a bearing.
