Strictly speaking, CAT5 will do everything you need (with baluns etc)

So if unsure, just shove a truckload of cat5 everywhere.

[ukha_d] Cabling advice, living room to future node zero
.
Category:

Hi

I'm about to start the cabling of our newbuild, and am after some
advice on what cabling I might want to put between the living room and
the future node zero, to allow AV upgrades in the future.
A very tight budget means we're stuck with our current equipment for now.

Initially the living room will just have the kit in from our previous
house:
- TV
- Sky box
- DVD/Surround sound amp/Radio
This will just connect up standalone like it used to.

But in future I'd like the option of just having the TV in the living
room, and any other fancy kit in node zero (aka the cupboard under the
stairs) - which is actually at the end of the living room. At a guess,
the cable route from the anticipated TV position to equipment in node
zero would be 15-20m in length.

I'm after suggestions for what cables I should run between the two
locations ?

I'm guessing some mixture of cat5, phone, coax, maybe HDMI ?
I'm not to well up on current/future technology so advice would be great !

Thanks
Lee
