Why would you want to "keep things current"?

Unless the install changes the system stays *EXACTLY* the same ... On big
installs such as stadiums and commercial buildings the last thing you do is
change anything unless there is a specific reason to do so (i.e. correcting
identified bugs or security issues that directly affect the operation of
the
install). Testing and certification (signoff) is done to a known system and
if people are making changes to those systems then that invalidates the
testing and certification so obviously this is kept to a minimum.

The last thing that anyone should be doing is getting a message saying
"There are new updates available - do you want to isnstall now?",
let alone
being given the opportunity to hit "Yes". :-D

Events (as with commercial building usage patterns) tend to fit into nicely
segmented categories and so can be covered by relatively few lighting
scenarios...

The normal way a large project would work is that the main electrical
contractor (appointed by the main contractor) would bring in one or more
sub
contractors to install the C-Bus cabling, perhaps more sub contractors to
terminate and test each cable run and an integrator to program up the
entire
system and any head end control systems.

There would then be maintenance agreements put in place whereby if there
are
any faults with the system then they would be rectified by the integrator
and any updates/changes would be handled by the integrator - it would be
*VERY* unusual (however not unknown) for a staff member at such a facility
to do updates and changes themselves beyond possibly being able to swap out
a failed drive from a redundant array...
