[OT] : New water mains fitted... can I use MDPE pipe ineternally ?

Sorry to be off topic but I know a lot of people are on the self build
list=
as well, so I thought I might get a quick answer to my question.

We've just had a new water mains fitted into our property to replace the
ol=
d lead mains. We are currently waiting for the "water board" to
come and in=
spect and commission it. The new mains comes into the property in the
oppos=
ite cellar and I will need to join it up to the old pipe work when the
swit=
ch over. I want to take the opportunity to convert the main feed to 22mm
in=
stead of the 15mm feed at present. At the moment we have a load bang
whenev=
er a tap is shutoff or the washing machines fills. From what I've read
this=
is either a banging pipe (which I've been unable to find) or "water
hammer=
". Research on the net seems to say that using a larger pipe will
reduce th=
e water velocity in the pipe and help reduce/prevent the water hammer
effec=
t.

The mains enters the house in blue MDPE pipe which the has a compression
fi=
tting 25mm to 15mm stop tap fitted. I have a run of about 25meters from
thi=
s new tap to the upstairs point where the water mains splits into two (one
=
way being supply for Utility and kitchen, the other is the supply for
bathr=
oom and shower room). Looking at the price of copper its going to cost me
=
in the region of =A3100 just in pipe to do that run, so I'm thinking.. is
i=
t acceptable to simply change the stop tap to 25mm-25mm and then run a 25m
=
length of blue MDPE pipe internally to this point ? I'm sure that's what
th=
e builders did in our last house, but don't want to spend the =A340 and
tim=
e and effort just to find that the "water board" then refuse to
connect it.

Just to bring it slightly on topic, this pipe will be running across the
ce=
iling of the old larder cupboards which will start becomeing my node0 as
so=
on as this work is completed :-)

Thanks,
