RE: WHS recommended hardware...
I'm running it on a Dell Dimension 3000 with 2.8GHz P4 with 1GB RAM.
The
full system (including monitor, keyboard, mouse and OS) cost =A3273. It's
m=

than powerful enough.
I've just bought a new Dell PowerEdge SC440 with Dual-Core Xeon (2.16GHz?),
1GB RAM. Cost =A3253. I'm not running WHS on this one, though. I put
anothe=
r
2GB RAM in it (=A356), two extra disks that I had lying around and now it's
very happily running Small Business Server.
You get a lot of bang-for-the-buck with Dell's entry level stuff.

Subject: [ukha_d] WHS recommended hardware...
I am preparing to install my WHS, but wanted some advice from those who are
already running it.
=20
I have inherited a free AMD Turion 64, and want to use it for my WHS box,
but am concerned about compatibility. I have seen comments on many forums
about the limited support of WHS for hardware, so wanted some advice about
what hardware to choose.
=20
I have 2 conditions of any hardware I purchase:
=20
1. It MUST be cheap. And I mean like the budgie cheap. Bargain
basement stuff.
2. I want to purchase the minimum number of items. Ideally Case,
Memory & Motherboard. Nothing else.
=20
So if anyone knows of a motherboard which will support SATA HDD, Turion 64
CPU and WHS without hassle please let me know!
