[OT] Thrips (storm bugs) in LCDs warning
- Subject: [OT] Thrips (storm bugs) in LCDs warning

Every year, we see postings about this little buggers getting in to
LCD
and TFT panels and the thrip season seems to have started.
They spend a few hours wandering around before dying, usually right in
the middle of the screen, leaving a black blob about 2mm long for you to
stare at!!!
I've just noticed a couple wandering around on (rather than in) my
screen so I've shut the windows to keep their mates out!
If anyone does get 'em inside their screen, I've found the best way to
solve the problem is to turn the screen off, put it in a cupboard and
set up a strong light in one corner.
The buggers are attracted to the light and die "off screen" thus
saving
your expensive monitor and your sanity!
Cheers
Neil
