Home plug was designed for 'in the home' conditions and despite promises of
14Mbps and upwards I rarely experience actual throughput of more than half
expected rate (even when you remove technology and protocol overheads).
That said I love Home Plug and use it loads. However, there are other power
line technologies designed for distribution and access solutions. Google
for
BPL or Broadand over Power line for some options. In my experience these
technologies are aimed at a specific market and priced accordingly.

Does the site provide telephone connection? If so is the cabling private or
owned by BT? If private cabling exists check out some of the VDSL solutions
- you can get 8 to 10Mbps easily.
