Actually I think the issue is not the wattage but the fact that CFL's
do
not provide enough transmission path to X10 due to the way they
function.  When a standard filament lamp is off it still provides a
resistive path across the circuit allowing X10 signals to be seen - this
is required for lamp modules because there is no neutral connection  -
(appliance modules work ok).  CFL's also cause flickering as they
initially 'strike' . Whether any of the newer breed standard dimmer
compatible CFL's will work with X10 is going to be an interesting issue ...
