I recommend Truecrypt too. The only catch I've had with using it from
a USB
drive on a strange PC, is that the PC must be logged on as a user with
administrator privileges.
For a windows based portable start menu, I use PStart. Fairly simply and
quick to set up, quite flexible if you need it to be.
