before we went with T-Mobile web'n'walk & the Nokia E61 + Samsung
'560,  I agonised very protractedly about download quantities &
'phone times ... I never did get a feel for what would be needed,
what others are using, etc ... but I took the plunge, and in
practice, we've never ever come anywhere near our limits ... their
minimum contract service would have been way more than we needed ...

which, of course, may be no help at all, 'cos how we use them may be
nothing like how you would use them ...
