RE: Wall / Floor Plates for PC & Multimedia
Cannot help with the floor box but I have recently bought modular
connectors
that are based on the 25x50mm modules from Aldous Systems -
www.aldoussystems.co.uk <http://www.aldoussystems.co.uk/>
- these would
cover most of your needs. I used these for F-Types, Phono (video, audio
&
subwoofer) and speakers Their accessories either use screw terminals on the
back of the module or have plugs/sockets on either side direct coupling of
appropriately terminated cables, so no need to solder. They do not
currently
list modules for USB or Firewire and VGA is only available as a complete
single gang faceplate from what I can see. They are a trade-only supplier
so
you may need to call them to for a list of retailers.

Subject: [ukha_d] Wall / Floor Plates for PC & Multimedia
Hi,
I finished my AV install many moons ago but am not entirely
satisfied with it. I have a number of cables sticking up from
floorboards being connected directly to equipment, but now think I
should've terminated them using Floor Plates. I'm planning to get a
new carpet fitted in the new year, so thought now would be good time
to add some more cables and terminate them properly.
I know Wall / Floor Plates is a common issue which comes up time and
time again in this forum. But I've not been able to find any
suppliers that meet my needs.
I would like to terminate the following WITHOUT soldering (so
ideally plugging the connector directly to the back of the wall /
floor plate with a direct or 90 degree socket) :
- 5 x CAT6
- USB
- Firewire
- VGA
- HDMI
- 2 x Telephone
- 1 x RCA Subwoofer
- 1 x L-R RCA Audio
- 1 x 3.5mm
Ideally I would like these as snap in modules, but I imagine that
HDMI for example may not be available as a snap in.
Could anyone recommend a supplier ? (ideally UK based).
Also, would anyone know if there is any regulation about putting
these connectors in the floor ? I seriously doubt there's a
Electrical risk, but thought I'd ask.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks
