I'd heard that hot water first, followed immediately by cold water...
The theory being (apparently) that hot water causes the skin pores to
open, loosening their grip on trapped fibres, then the cold water washes
them away & causes the skin pores to close again... sounds fairly
dubious to me, but I've used "Pink Panther" which is contained in
a
plastic membrane thus avoiding direct skin contact with the fibres
anyway...
