Depends on what the fitters use, but I would guess it's the cheapest

they can get. It was just fibreglass wool in ours.. since I wasn't doing

e work I didn't care to much :-)

I used Global Insulation Ltd, as I was also having the cavity walls done

d wanted them to use silver beads (not wool).. even after a grant that
stil=
l cost me nearly =A31000.

There are available available for this; last year (up to April 07) you=20
could have your whole loft (any size) insulated for a flat fee of =A3199=20
(including materials and fitting). I calculated that it would cost me more=
=20
than that just to buy the stuff from BQ ! Absolute no brainer at that=20
price, and it only took them about an hour to do it... I'd have probably=20
spent a whole weekend faffing around!

BTW, if you do want to use the grant system to do this then you actually=20
get a better deal if there is NO loft insulation in the loft to start=20
with.. its actually worth removing any you've already got before asking=20
for a quote !

Horrible stuff rockwool or fibreglass wool but look for "Barrier
Cream" (and one suitable for fibreglass). Magic Stuff.=20

But I still wear disposable paper suit (e.g. tyvek) and a respirator
if working close up in lofts. Especially if its old and has started
to degrade.=20

Having done far too much when we built the house, I paid someone else
to redo my mother's! I rate that expense as extremely good value.
