I think maybe a reality check of what one might you expect from the=20
police today.

Personally, I would not waste my time or money even bothering to=20
include the police or a security care company in any equation for=20
household security. They are a perception of security rather than a=20
reality. The villains know the response times and operate within=20
them. You will achieve absolutely nothing other than frustration at=20
police ineptitude and disinterest. By the time you get a response=20
from police, IF they can even be bothered, any intruders will be=20
long gone. Even if you give them the name and address of the=20
intruder, doubt they'll be interested unless you have a full coverage=20
movie of the event with signed confessions.

I once gave them video of a disturbed break-in to my factory whilst I=20
was still working in it one evening, together with the registration=20
number of the vehicle, descriptions of the intruders. Police knew who=20
it was as soon as I told them but were unable (or unwilling) to do=20
anything - they came back and ripped off =A325k of computer equipment a=20
few nights later ripping out a security barred window. The factory=20
was REDCARE linked to the police - I lived 15 minutes from the=20
factory and when I got there as a result of the security call, I had=20
to wait 3/4 of an hour before the police got there. Full video of=20
event - same team as earlier - achieved precisely zilch other than a=20
big hike in insurance premiums. After that, we took other actions at=20
considerable expense to make it not worth their while to break in.

Best option to consider, IMHO, is make it difficult for them to enter=20
/ exit the property perimeter, set off an audible alarm & flash=20
lights (but not full alarm) so they know they have been detected and=20
if they get into the house make an AWFUL lot of internal and external=20
noise as a deterent. A decent sized, well visible camera focussed on=20
the entry points to the property are also a partial deterent=20
particularly for the average intruder.

Perhaps a slightly different perspective for you to consider.
