Are you running a stand-alone Domain server (with separate installs of
Exchange etc.)?



I run SBS 2000, have been meaning to upgrade forever but it has been
reliable so other things have taken priority...



I would consider Small Business Server as it is intended to make
maintenance more simple...



Personally I like the roaming profiles, make sure the profile (desktop)
is kept to a reasonable size otherwise it will take ages to log on. I
also like the way it manages logons through Active Directory so you can
manage who can see what and what can be deleted by who... Managing
rights on PCs can  I do run exchange with SBS and use the calendar
functions with the wife as well as common address books.



Personally if you have two or more MS based machines running a domain
through SBS makes sense. A little bit more maintenance but through the
common interface provided by SBS it can make the network easier to
manage overall.#



Probably can't help with the problem you have, I have found SBS to work
out of the box using the inbuilt wizards...

Is there any benefit to running a domain on my network? All I seem to
be getting is endless maintenance problems - slow log-ons, active
directory falling over for no apparent reason etc.

I've forgotten why I did it in the first place, but now my server PC
has been upgraded, I'm wondering whether I should switch to Windows
Home Server, or just install XP (i.e not a server edition).

Does anyone have any experience of running Windows Home Server yet?
Or know why I might want to retain and battle to fix the domain?
